Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD)

The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is organised by invitation of the German Federal Government in collaboration with the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE), the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar), the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) – the German Energy Agency and eclareon.

This is the challenge:

The energy transition is in its second phase, which involves the development of new approaches and strategies to take the next steps. The global energy transition project requires a wide range of participants to discuss, advance and implement solutions as part of a concerted effort. International dialogue and networking of experience are indispensable to continue driving the energy transition forward.

What we are doing:

BETD is the dialogue platform for participants and decision-makers in the global energy transition – bright minds and communicative spirits who shape discussions on the global energy transition. The conference and its supporting programme are taking centre stage at the Berlin Energy Week. Featuring guided tours, business-to-government and government-to-government dialogue and presentation of the Start Up Energy Transition Awards at the BETD evening gala, the supporting programme has plenty of opportunities for meaningful discussions.

The overall outcome:

The conference has evolved into a must-attend event on the international calendar since the inaugural BETD in 2015: over 2,000 people from 95 countries attended the BETD in 2019 alone, including more than 50 ministers and state secretaries.
The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is a vital source of inspiration for the design of global energy transition blueprints. It uses a variety of formats to enable the transfer of know-how in key topics and areas of activity, as well as the promotion of energy transition strategies and technical solutions.

BETD 2021

In 2021, high-level participants from politics, industry, science and civil society will convene around the theme “Energiewende – towards climate neutrality”.
